CYF has been reaching teens for the past 43 years, with the last 7 years at Malone University in Canton, Ohio. We are camp that is committed to teaching and showing the way of Christ as displayed in the Holy Bible. Our aim is to enable teens to deepen their relationship with Jesus through experiential worship, study, fellowship and prayer. It's an exciting opportunity for young people to come together and experience authentic Christian community.

STAFF:

Joe Burkhardt - Camp Administrator

I am in my third year as Executive Director for CYF (a fancy way of saying that I have to sign gobs of important paperwork).  I have been a counselor, teacher, speaker and all-around good guy at CYF since 2000.  I am currently the Pastor at York United Methodist Church.  My wife Jeanette and I have FIVE (yes, FIVE) very blond sons–Zach (11); Matt (9); Jason (6); Micah (4); Andrew (2ish); and baby.  in my spare time i enjoy crossword puzzles and judging beauty pageants.

Ron & Jan Heasley - Spiritual Life Directors

Both have been involved with CYF for many years.  Ron, know also as Bubba has previously served as camp dean and administrator.  After some time off, Ron & Jan are back with us this year to provide spiritual guidance and leadership.  Ron is the pastor at Roxford UMC in Dennison, Ohio.  Both Ron and Jan were once a professional figure skating duo.

Tim Beck - Worship Coordinator

Involved with CYF since 1994.  Youth Director at Christ UMC, Louisville for past 10+ years.  Have three kids (age 7, 5, 1).  Enjoy organizing and planning interactive, emerging worship services at CYF each year!  Attended CYF as a teen many years ago.  I like long walks on the beach, pole vaulting, ninja training & raking leaves.

Andrew Berg - Worship Leader

Worship Pastor at River Tree Christian Church in North Canton.  Independent musician.  Malone graduate with a degree in Youth Ministries.  I often can be found bicycling around the city, looking for and collecting bottle caps.

Sharon Cassler - Business Manager

Involved with CYF since 1975.  For many years served as Dean of Women/Female Staff Director.  Served as Youth Director at Christ UMC, Cambridge, Ohio.  I once went deep sea fishing and came eye to eye with a shark.  i stared deeply into his eyes, right into his very soul.  i saw darkness and loneliness.  poor shark.

Seth Filburn - Class & Small Group Coordinator

Youth Pastor at Carrollton First UMC for the last 5 and a half years.  Married to Kindra with a year old son, Isaiah and another child on the way this coming summer!  I was once attacked by a rouge crocodile when I was 6 years old and that experience has made me a better person and has given me the strength to do what I do (working with teens reminds me of that attack almost on a daily basis).  I was on my high school synchronized swimming team.  i like hunting dogs.

Matt Diffenderfer - Male Staff Coordinator

This will be my fifth summer working with CYF.  in my spare time i enjoy spelling words.

Jen Beck - Female Staff Coordinator

I am the part time Childrens director at Christ UMC, Louisville and also own Photography business.  I’ve been involved with CYF since 1996… I have three kids and a sweet husband.  I keep a collection of my toe nail clippings and coach the local table tennis team.

Jon Naylor - Recreation

Jon is a 2011 graduate of Malone University, with a degree in Youth Ministry.
